The 250 Maine hotel is such a lovely spot. This boutique hotel in downtown Rockland is a wonderful place to stay when you are exploring MidCoast Maine. Located just up from the harbor and directly in the action when it’s Lobsterfest, the 250 Main is a modern and luxuriously comfortable hotel to choose when you’re planning your summertime Maine vacation. or winter too for that matter. Have you got to stay here at the 250 Maine before? If not, you should try to incorporate it into your plan when you visit MidCoast Maine.
From the art all through the hotel to the lovely rooms and views, and oh yes, the rooftop deck, I think you’ll love staying here. If you have any questions about the 250 Maine or visiting Rockland, please leave a comment or send us a note. You’re always happy to share more and help you plan a wonderful visit to Maine.

What We Love about the 250 Main Hotel
There are elements of MidCoast Maine that are very fine and elevated, and I would include staying at the 250 Main Hotel in Rockland as one of those things. There are very few hotels we’ve ever stayed in that so thoroughly and meaningfully integrated art into the decor. It’s not just hotel art, but between the one of a kind paintings and the beautiful book collection the 250 Main Hotel separates its interiors from the rest of the world in Rockland. Inside you’re not immersed in lobstering culture or the granite Mainers say they’re made of, but it’s like you’ve entered a quiet zone of modern culture and calm.
I don’t need a view when I’m traveling, but having a view of the Rockland Harbor and the breakwater lighthouse from our room added to the experience, just in that the same elements that separate the hotel from the rough and tumble MidCoast outside, it’s nice to look out from your hotel room and get to see one of the icons of the area. Big windows and wonderful room decor make it just a great retreat each time you come back after exploring.
The other element of staying at the 250 Main Hotel in Rockland that I just love is the rooftop. In big cities you’ll find lots of rooftop bars and lounges, but that’s unusual when you’re in Maine. The rooftop here is open to guests and is accessible via elevator or stairs. There are lots of chairs, wonderful views and it’s just perfect for enjoying an afternoon on the roof with friends and a bottle of wine.

250 Main Accommodations Options
When it comes to choosing a room at the 250 Main Hotel, you have a few options, and they’re based on bed type and… window type? Yes, you’ll have the option of rooms with king beds, one queen or two queens, and then “cozy” rooms with smaller windows vs rooms with giant windows. Also, some rooms have private decks with views of the Rockland Harbor. You won’t be disappointed with any of the options. The hotel is very well maintained and impeccably kept.
I was trying to think of how to describe the decor of the guest rooms at the 250 Main and all I can come up with is mod. You’ve got your mid-century chairs and side tables and such, and then the colors and lines are very much in line with a NYC 1960 vibe. I love it and have tried to emulate it in my living room. It’s another way the 250 Main sets itself apart from the more rough and tumble side of MidCoast Maine. I haven’t even talked about the really cool bathrooms. Thoughtfully designed with beautiful tile work with towel heaters and lots of space, the guest room bathrooms and wonderful.
When booking, the room types are:
- Cozy – king with smaller windows
- Cool – king on a lower floor
- Fabulous – king on the top floor
- Family Friendly – two queens with a view
- Balcony – queen w/ a Main Street balcony
- Fantastic – king with a deck on a high floor

Amenities at the 250 Main Hotel in Rockland
I think the greatest amenity when you’re staying at the 250 Main Hotel in Rockland is the rooftop deck, as I’ve said. We’ve enjoyed afternoons and sunsets from here, sipping wine and enjoying the view. The lobby is also wonderful for relaxing and enjoying an afternoon happy hour with other guests or just a good book. In the mornings, the 250 Main Hotel puts out a very nice continental breakfast with locally made pastries and locally roasted coffee, fruit, yogurt and more. Again, it’s got the quiet and chic community vibe happening. It’s really wonderful for starting a day of sightseeing to the Owl’s Head Lighthouse or a day on the water with Monhegan Boat Lines in Port Clyde with a peaceful morning without having to leave the hotel.
Whether you’re just heading out or coming back in, the 250 Main has a really nice water bottle filling station, and they even provide the bottles for you. I thought this was a nice touch and is a green-thinking amenity that I wish more hotels would do. In-room amenities include bathrobes, towel warmers, streaming televisions, desk space and other nice touches. In everything, the 250 Main Hotel keeps things classy. For guests who are visiting the islands and using the Maine State Ferries, when you’ve returned from Matinicus Island or Vinalhaven, it’s great to return to your room and have a nice shower and a warm towel and bathrobe to melt into.

Dining the 250 Main Hotel
There is not a restaurant within the 250 Main Hotel, but they do provide continental breakfast in the lobby with plenty of seating. The food is all local and I’d be lying if I said that we didn’t take extra chocolate croissants for the road… Nearby you’ll find lots of great dining options. Primo is a wonderful farm to table restaurant, Ada’s Kitchen is good but always really busy, the Rockland Cafe is mellow, and we love the Rock City Cafe as well.

Parking at the 250 Main Hotel in Rockland
Parking at the 250 Main Hotel is actually across the street in the public lot at the harbor. There’s a path from the lot to the crosswalk and then you’re at the hotel. There is also street parking, and there is plenty of it on the block too. Be mindful of signage when you park and if you’re concerned about it, ask upon check in for suggestions.
