When visiting Maine there are lots of options for staying close to or on the water. Camden is the quintessential New England coastal town and it is full of charming hotels to choose from. If you are looking for water views, these properties will be just what you’re looking for with your stay. Camden doesn’t have any places to stay that are full on resorts, but if that’s what you’re looking for, the Samoset Resort is just a few minutes south in Rockport and it’s lovely. Said to be one of the most beautiful places on earth, this castle by the sea has been beautifully restored and offers 11 stunning rooms with a lux feel. The Norumbega Inn bed and breakfast is located on a hill overlooking Penobscot Bay; though not right on the water, guests can still capture beautiful views. The suites at the inn incorporate modern private baths, glamorous furnishings, and luxurious plush bedding with antique touches. There is also a gourmet breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening hors d’oeuvres for guests to enjoy at the newly opened Norumbega bar.

Camden Harbour Inn
Experience the Beaty of the rugged Maine coast from this modern hotel with spectacular views. Camden Harbour Inn luxury Hotel can be found atop a hill overlooking Camden Harbor. 16 Bay View is one of the most amazing and charming hotels in Camden, ME. This renovated 20th-century industrial building holds rooms that feature private balconies, gas fireplaces, and freestanding deep soaking bathtubs. 16 Bay View is also dog friendly and offers a pampered pooch package with a plush fleece dog bed, gourmet dog biscuits, water, food bowl, and an extensive list of local outdoor recreational activities for you and your pet to enjoy. There is an on-site restaurant, a rooftop bar (one of my favorites) with views of the harbor, and even computer & printer access in case you have to squeeze in some work while you’re there.

The Inn at Sunrise Point
Set on five secluded acres with access to the shoreline, The Inn at Sunrise Point is what I think of when I picture an authentic Maine bed and breakfast. You will find this beautiful property overlooking Penobscot Bay with views of Warren Island State Park. The inn features rooms and cottages with ocean views, private decks, fireplaces, and complimentary gourmet breakfast served daily. At the end of the day, you can unwind in the cozy library with a glass of fine wine or cocktail from the full bar.

Centrally located to Camden Village the Cedar Crest Inn historic bed and breakfast has multiple rooms to choose from spanning 3 buildings. Blackberry Inn
The Blackberry Inn is a Victorian mansion turned bed and breakfast off Elm Street in Camden. Built in 1849, this “Painted Lady” has been beautifully restored and sits on just about an acre of land, and has been host to Hollywood elites such as Bette Davis. The property offers 11 guest rooms many of which include gas fireplaces and soaking tubs, and each has its own private bath. We have found that many guests that return to the Blackberry request the same room again and again. With rooms for every budget, this charming inland hotel is the perfect place to spend time in Camden, ME.

Blue Harbor House
This turn of the 19th-century property has undergone several expansions and upgrades since it was the home of a master mariner. Blue Harbor House bed and breakfast hassle thing for everyone with 10 well-appointed guest rooms or suites, each with its own unique character. The guest rooms in this charming hotel offer cozy decor and private baths, and some rooms showcase a clawfoot tub and fireplace. The inn offers a two-course gourmet breakfast and homemade goodies every afternoon. Though this inn may be a bit spendier than most located further from the water, it is well worth a stay!

This is one of my favorite properties in Camden. The Lord Camden Inn is a boutique hotel in the heart of Camden Village, across from an awesome bookstore. The hotel features 36 rooms and suites with modern seafaring décor, flat-screen TVs, and an overall mellow charm. The hotel also offers an on-site restaurant, bar, and outdoor seating area. The Lord Camden may be at the top of your price range for where to stay in Camden, Maine.

The Belmont Inn

This pet-friendly inn offers 36 main house rooms and 11 cottages available from May through October to accommodate guests. This charming hotel is more than a home away from home to stay while exploring the MidCoast and offers a brand-new indoor heated pool and hot tub. The Country Inn at Camden/Rockport is a rustic bed and breakfast located on a sprawling estate just outside Camden. Each room holds classic New England decor, private baths, and a separate sitting area in some rooms. The inn also offers a complimentary breakfast with homemade breakfast sandwiches, waffles, fresh fruit, and more. There is even outdoor play equipment if you are traveling with kids. Though this hotel is a bit further from the heart of the village it is definitely worth putting on your list.
