Even thought Maine is much more than its coastline, the 67 lighthouses are both iconic and integral to the maritime history of the state… and they’re fun to visit. Whether you’re a lighthouses fanatic and get your Lighthouse Passport stamped everywhere you go or you just like to see the architecture or landscapes around them, Coastal Maine is a treat for the eyes. Lighthouses feed a sense of fun and wonder, and for me they take me back into so many pieces of literature and movies.
We try to visit every lighthouse possible and as we continue to check them off, we’ll continue to write about them. If you have any questions about visiting the many lighthouses in Maine, please let us know and send us a note. Lighthouses are one of the most special elements of the state and we’re happy to help others visit and appreciate them.
